What is Background Design in 3D Animation?

If you are a fan of animated films, you must have remembered the iconic opening scene of the Disney classic The Lion King. The animals of the African savannah are beginning to move in the sun. Each of them is seen in a different and enthusiastic scene as they all begin their journey to Pride Rock to meet our hero.

These scenes (some static, some animated) are good examples of background design. From the beginning of the film to the end of the story, everyone helps to build the universe and the tone. The gnus procession, the forest where Timon and Pumba live, the home of hyenas ... Every detail is designed and manufactured to evoke different emotions in the viewer.




What is the role of background design?
